| Jacob takes a first look at a new print |
|
Jacob Semko is an artist, educator, author, and a printmaker. He has exhibited his work, taught printmaking workshops and participated in collaborative residencies in Canada, the United States, and China. Jacob has worked internationally with artists and printmakers in a variety of media, however, he chooses to focus his practice on waterless lithography. Jacob is fluent in all areas of printmaking and currently teaches at the University of Saskatchewan in the Department of Art and Art History.
“More fundamentally is the individual problem, the capacity of an
artist to absorb the shocks of reality, whether coming from the
internal or external world, and to reassert himself in the face of such
shocks, as when a dog shakes off water after emerging from the sea…moreover the function of the artist is to express reality as felt.”
